WWE NXT Results – 2/22/12
We are wild and young and on tape from Rockford, Illinois and your announcers are William ‘Embrace the Quality’ Regal and Josh ‘Proud to be Number Two’ Mathews.
Your host Matt Striker is in the ring and before he can start to talk about what he wanted, Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks interrupt.
Curt wants Matt to talk about how he was screwed over last week and put in an impromptu match. Tyler says that Matt is making a joke out of the show, just like his career.
Tyler says that Matt will never be like him and Curt. He wants Matt to be involved in something that he is not prepared for.
Tyson Kidd comes out and he says that he has an idea. He wants Tyler and Curt to apologize to everybody for wasting their time.
Curt says that he figured that Tyson would be on their side.
Tyson says that there is a lot of untapped talent in the WWE, but the WWE Universe wants high octane, high energy offense. He says that Tyler and Curt want to be in the main event but they can’t do it right.
Tyler says that they are the next in line and the future of WWE.
Tyson says that he beat one half of the future in WWE, Curt Hawkins and he challenges Tyler to a match tonight.
Match Number One: Tyson Kidd versus Tyler Reks
Kidd with a waist lock and a rollup for a near fall. They lock up again and Kidd works on the wrist but Tyler with a forearm. Tyler with punches and kicks in the corner and the referee warns him. Reks misses a knee drop and Kidd returns to the arm. Reks with a kick and he works on the wrist.
Reks with a knee to the midsection followed by elbows and forearms. Reks works on the wrist and arm. Kidd uses the ropes for an arm drag and Reks goes to the floor. Kidd follows and then he gets between Hawkins and Reks and the referee sends Hawkins to the back before he can do anything. Kidd gives Hawkins a present before heading to the back and he hits a suicide dive onto Reks and Hawkins.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Kidd kicks Reks but Kidd charges at Reks and Reks sends Kidd over his head into the turnbuckles. Reks with knees and then he drops Kidd on the top rope to work on the midsection and he gets a near fall. Reks with a double underhook and a knee before sending Kidd to the mat. Reks with a knee drop and he gets a near fall.
Reks with a kick to the ribs and then a boot to the midsection. Reks with an elbow drop and knee drop to Kidd. Reks with another knee drop and then he applies a chin lock while he has his knee in Kidd’s chest.
Kidd gets to his feet and he kicks Reks and then Reks blocks a kick and hits a mule kick. Reks charges at Kidd and Kidd with a kick and he goes to the apron. Kidd with shoulders and then he sends Reks to the floor with a back body drop. Kidd with a running knee from the apron and Reks is down.
Kidd waits for Reks on the apron and he hits a springboard drop kick and gets a near fall. Kidd with a back heel kick but Reks with an elbow. Reks with a cradle fallaway slam for a near fall. Reks goes to the turnbuckles and Kidd is able to recover and hits a running drop kick. Kidd goes to the turnbuckles as well for a superplex attempt but Reks sends Kidd to the apron. Kidd with a kick to the head.
Kidd tries for a double jump move but Reks blocks it and he gets Kidd on his shoulders and he leaps off and drops Kidd on the top turnbuckle. Kidd goes to the floor and Reks brings him back in and gets a near fall. Reks with a leg drop to the abdomen. Reks tries for a second one but Kidd grabs the leg and turns it into a Sharpshooter and Reks tries to get to the ropes but Kidd pulls him into the center of the ring and Reks has to tap out.
Winner: Tyson Kidd
We go to the back where Maxine is yelling at Derrick saying that she did not freak out last week. Derrick wants to know if Maxine has seen the therapist and then he wants her to do the breathing exercises. Maxine says that she is going to get off this show and says that if Derrick wants to hang out and play around with Kaitlyn and her two toned hair.
Derrick walks around the hallway and he sees Kaitlyn. Derrick says that he is here to love and to fight. He wants to go on to Smackdown and win the Intercontinental Title. Derrick says that he wishes things with Maxine could be like they are with him and Kaitlyn where things are laid back.
Kaitlyn and Derrick share a glance and they say it won’t happen. They high five and Derrick leaves.
Conveniently, Johnny Curtis is lurking in the shadows and he starts to suggest that something could happen between Derrick and Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn punches Johnny in the stomach and she walks away.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Matt is undergoing step one of “Being Bischoff’ by playing his guitar on a wrestling show. Kaitlyn enters the office and she says that she doesn’t care what people are saying but she thinks that Matt is doing a great job. Kaitlyn asks for a rematch with Maxine.
Maxine enters and she insults Kaitlyn. Maxine demands to leave the show because she cannot stand being around ‘this’ any more.
Matt says that next week, Kaitlyn will face Maxine next week. Matt tells Maxine that respect goes a long way.
Maxine says that Reks and Hawkins were right and that Matt is a joke.
We go to commercial.
It is time to take a look at what happened with Eve on Raw and her evil plan . . . and how it backfired.
We see Tyson Kidd on the phone with Trent Barreta and he says that it isn’t the same without him on NXT. He tells Trent to continue with the rehab and the tag team is waiting when he comes back.
Michael McGillicutty enters and he says that he drove six hours in a blizzard and he isn’t even booked in a match. Tyson wants to know what is wrong. Michael gets beat by Percy Watson last week and he doesn’t even get a rematch.
Tyson tells Michael to calm down and that no wrestler has ever had a perfect record.
Michael says that they have known each other since they were kids and he never liked him then and he never likes him now. Tyson used to pretend that he was just like Michael, Ted DiBiase, and the Usos. Michael says that it is in his blood while Tyson will never be one of us.
Tyson challenges Michael to a match next week so Michael can see if it is in his blood.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Darren Young has joined William and Josh at the announce table.
Josh asks Darren about his change of opinion about Titus O’Neil and he says that they still might have issues, but he has worked past them.
Match Number Two: Titus O’Neil versus Alex Riley
They lock up and Titus pushes Alex away and Titus applauds Riley to mock the fans. Riley with a side head lock but Titus with a reversal and shoulder tackle. Titus continues to mock the fans. Riley sends a charging O’Neil to the floor and Titus yells at a few fans.
Riley blocks a punch and he punches Titus. Titus with an Irish whip but he misses a charge into the corner. Riley with a running clothesline to Titus but Titus sends Riley over the top rope to the floor in front of the announce table.
Darren Young checks on Riley and that brings out Percy Watson to even the odds.
Titus sends Riley into the announce table a few times and then we go to commercial while Titus yells at Percy.
We are back and Titus with a clothesline and Titus barks before getting a near fall. Titus with a splash into the corner and gets a near fall. Titus sends Alex into the turnbuckles. Titus with a slam and he gets a near fall. Titus yells at the referee and he applies a reverse chin lock. Riley with an STO and both men are down.
Riley with punches but Titus with a kick. Riley with forearms followed by a spinebuster for a near fall. Riley climbs the turnbuckles and punches Titus but Titus with a power bomb and he gets some extra leverage with his feet on the ropes to get the three count.
Winner: Titus O’Neil
After the match, Watson goes into the ring to tell the referee what happened and check on Riley while Young and Titus celebrate on the floor.
Matt Striker appears on the TitanTron. Next week is the anniversary of NXT Redemption. He has an announcement for next week and he tells everyone that it is no joke.
