*SPOILERS* SmackDown Taping Results For This Friday, 7/27
SmackDown (Airing July 27th on SyFy):
* The show opens with the announcement that a new #1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship will be determined tonight in a Fatal 4 Way match between Alberto Del Rio, Daniel Bryan, Kane and Rey Mysterio. The winner faces Sheamus for the title at SummerSlam.
* WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz comes out to the ring. He thanks the “peeps” for voting for Christian to defend the title on the 1,000th episode of RAW this past Monday, allowing him to be here as the champ now. Christian interrupts and says he is issuing his rematch clause right now.
* WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz b. Christian with a roll-up to retain the title after a number of reversals between their respective finishers.
* A non-title match between Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus is announced for later.
* Ryback b. Jinder Mahal via count out after he had hit a spinebuster on Mahal, who then rolled out of the ring and headed to the back. After the match, Ryback wasn’t pleased, yet still started a “Feed Me More” chant which the crowd joined in on.
* World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus b. Cody Rhodes with a Brogue Kick in a non-title match. After the match, Dolph Ziggler comes out with the Money in the Bank briefcase walking slowly. From behind, Chris Jericho attacks Ziggler and tosses him into the ring where he gets Brogue Kick’d. Jericho enters the ring and delivers a Codebreaker to Ziggler for good measure, then stands over him and talks smack.
* Antonio Cesaro w/Aksana b. WWE United States Champion Santino Marella with a variation of a pile driver after reversing the Cobra in a non-title match.
* A recap video of Damien Sandow being laid out by Degeneration X on the 1,000th episode of RAW this past Monday is shown. Sandow is advertised to make an appearance next.
* Damien Sandow b. Yoshi Tatsu with a neck breaker. After the match, in an off-air segment, Sandow talks about being laid out by DX on RAW to which Triple H comes out. Triple H apologized for humiliating him and then gave him a Pedigree and a DX chop.
* Backstage, Abraham Washington and The Prime Time Players interrupt a photo shoot for Rosa Mendes. Washington starts arguing with the photographer for not taking pictures of the next WWE Tag Team Champions. He takes the camera and scares away Rosa before taking pics of Darren Young and Titus O’Neil.
* Alberto Del Rio b. Daniel Bryan, Kane and Rey Mysterio in a Fatal 4 Way match to become the #1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship after knocking Mysterio out of the ring when he attempted to pin Bryan following a 619. After the match, Del Rio celebrates in the ring to close the show.
