*SPOILERS* SmackDown Taping Results For This Friday, 8/17
SmackDown (Airing August 17th on SyFy):
* The show opens with a video package recapping last week’s actions from Alberto Del Rio towards World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus, followed by Del Rio pleading his case in the ring to have SmackDown General Manager Booker T reverse his decision to cancel the World Heavyweight Championship match at SummerSlam against Sheamus.
* Booker comes out and talks down to Del Rio about his actions last week and out comes Chris Jericho saying that he wants to take Del Rio’s spot at SummerSlam. Booker T books a match between Del Rio and Jericho for later tonight.
* Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara b. Cody Rhodes and WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz when Rey hit the 619 on Cody, who was trying to remove Cara’s mask. After the match, Mysterio hit Miz with a 619 after Miz tried to sneak attack him.
* It is announced that Daniel Bryan will take on Randy Orton later tonight.
* Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks b. 2 local workers with their combo finisher. Hawkins and Reks have a gimmick that mirrors the Magic Mike movie.
* Backstage, William Regal approaches Eve Torres as she prepares for her match with Kaitlyn up next and boasts about his work as the RAW General Manager years ago. A stage hand approaches Regal and tells him to take out the trash. Regal grimaced and walked off.
* Eve Torres b. Kaitlyn to become SmackDown General Manager Booker T’s assistant. Senior Adviser to the General Manager Theodore Long was on commentary for the match.
* Randy Orton b. Daniel Bryan with an RKO after Bryan got distracted by Kane’s pyrotechnics going off. After the match, Bryan was yelling NO and Kane appeared on the stage smiling.
* Off Air: Bryan complains about his loss, yelling NO constantly as fans chant YES at him. Triple H comes out and delivers a Pedigree to Bryan.
* WWE United States Champion Santino Marella came out and joined the announce team for the next match.
* Antonio Cesaro w/Aksana b. Zack Ryder with a variation of a pile driver in roughly a minute. After the match, Cesaro started talking smack to Santino at ringside and ended up being hit before Santino power walked away.
* Chris Jericho is attacked by Dolph Ziggler as he made his entrance for his match with Alberto Del Rio. Ziggler stood over Jericho and yelled to never overlook him again before heading to the back. Trainers come out to check on Jericho.
* Alberto Del Rio b. Chris Jericho with the cross arm breaker with help from Dolph Ziggler not once, but twice. After the match, Del Rio and Ziggler teamed up and attacked Jericho until World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus came out to make the save as Del Rio escaped through the crowd.
* SmackDown General Manager Booker T comes out to address what just happened and Sheamus replies by saying that he wants Booker to reverse his decision and re-instate his match at SummerSlam with Del Rio for the title. Booker originally said no, but after convincing done by Sheamus, Booker says the match is back on to close the show.
