Looking Into The Future Of RingsideXcess.com

Hello readers of RingsideXcess.com! This is James Rolls, the owner and everyday operator of the site. Today I come to you to address the future of the website. Don’t worry, we’re not going anywhere. I just wanted to discuss some things about what to look for for the remainder of this year and what may be coming in 2013.

2012 has been a milestone year for us thus far and it’s all because of the support from you, the readers. I can’t stress enough how much appreciation I have towards each and every one of you who takes the time out of your day to pay this measly, unknown website.

Back when I first started writing for WrestlingNewsArena.com, a website ran by a good friend in Shawn Moniz, I was naive and had no clue what I was doing. Over time I learned the ropes, no pun intended, on what it means to be involved in a site that covered wrestling news and sometimes opinions.

Eventually, I stopped writing for WNA to start my own website with a somewhat similar name, which I will simply refer to as WNC due to undisclosed reasons. I hosted WNC on a platform called Ning, which used to host free site service.

During that time, I grew in my abilities as a writer and even made some friends along the way in Jay O’Dwyer, Jon Curry, Michael “Taj” Gallagher and Wayne Daly on a site they all were apart of called XWS, all of whom now work on Wrestling-News.net.

In mid-2010, we all found out Ning was stopping their free service, leaving both sites’ futures uncertain. At one point, I even considered to stop covering wrestling news. But then, we all heard of another free platform called Jigsy, although at the time it was known as Viviti.

I used the WNC name on Jigsy for a little while, but the name grew tiring, especially when I found out there was already a site under the same name, so I considered new names. I had around 20 names in my head of what to re-brand the site and eventually the Xcess name was picked… out of a hat. Yeah, it was a tacky way to decide on it, but I liked it.

Originally the site was to be known as Wrestling Xcess, kind of an homage to the former name but with a new spin; however, the Wrestling Xcess name was already in play thanks to above mentioned Jon. There was a situation at one point where we argued about it, but that has since been resolved and we have both moved on. Anyway, after that, I went with Ringside Xcess instead.

Eventually, the site kept getting more visitors and the Jigsy platform was unable to keep up with the growth of Ringside Xcess, so I decided to take my talents to the wide-renowned WordPress platform and within weeks of moving here, I purchased the RingsideXcess.com domain and now, here we are today!

Back onto the topic of this article, we incorporated a bunch of new features to the site this year such as the Xcess Update and the Xcess Radio Network, as well as keeping up the tradition of the Xcess Awards and things are only going to get better when 2013 rolls in.

I’ve wanted to bring some stuff back that used to exist on WNC, such as our own Hall of Fame section, but have yet to get around to it due to the daily routine. Will it come back next year? Maybe, but I’m not going to out-right promise anything regarding that right now.

Alright, I think it’s time I stop rambling and let you get back to what you were doing before you clicked on this link on our Facebook and Twitter accounts, but again, I can’t stress enough my gratitude towards each and every one of you for taking your time to visit us every day. Thank you SO MUCH!

Until next time, this has been James Rolls, owner and operator of RingsideXcess.com.
