WWE RAW Results – 8/27/12
We start off with footage from SummerSlam and Raw with CM Punk’s comments to Jerry Lawler that were interrupted by John Cena. We hear Punk’s demand to give John Cena his title shot at Night of Champions. We then see CM Punk and Jerry Lawler II and Lawler bumping into Punk and Punk’s response with a round kick to the head.
We are live from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and your announcers are Michael ‘Laverne’ Cole and Jerry ‘Shirley’ Lawler.
Michael brings up the tweet that Jerry Lawler made after Raw. Lawler gets up and he walks into the ring.
Jerry says that this is not the way that Raw normally starts, but he has something to get off his chest. At the end of the 1000th edition of Raw, Jerry made a comment that CM Punk thought was derogatory. Jerry says that he might have misspoke. When Punk came out last week to demand an apology, he thought out of respect for the WWE Championship, it was no big deal. Jerry apologized to Punk, but then he was kicked in the head from behind.
Last week, he apologized to Punk. This week, he wants an apology from CM Punk.
CM Punk eventually comes to the ring.
Punk wants to know why Jerry Lawler wants the WWE Champion to apologize for doing his job. Punk reminds Jerry what he said about Punk turning his back on the WWE Universe because he justifiably kicked the crap out of the Rock for showing him a lack of respect. Lawler paints him as a bad guy. Punk did not turn his back on anybody. Jerry Lawler turned his back on the WWE Universe when he slandered the WWE Champion. Punk says that he kicked Lawler from behind because Jerry pushed him out of the way and showed him no respect.
Punk says that he is a man and he will apologize to Jerry. He says that he is sorry that all to get into the WWE Hall of Fame is to beat a bunch of nobodies from Memphis, get into a slap fight with an actor, and act like a fourteen year old for his entire WWE career. He is sorry that Jerry’s jealousy came from never becoming WWE Champion. When he got his Wrestlemania shot, he lost to Michael Cole. He is sorry that Jerry has become a seal barking back whatever is said into his ear. He is sorry for the man who Jerry has become.
Punk asks Jerry if he wants to fight him. He says that Lawler is just a commentator while Punk is the best in the world. Punk says that everyone knows that he would embarrass Jerry.
Jerry says that he came out for an apology, not a fight.
Punk says that he can see it on Jerry’s face, but what would happen if they fought. Punk asks if he is not the best in the world, who is? Punk says that he will fight Lawler and he promises that Jerry will leave embarrassed. He will leave it up to Jerry to determine how embarrassed he is at the end of the night. Will he be embarrassed for being beaten up in a match or for deciding not to fight.
Punk walks to the back and Lawler says that he will think about it.
We go to commercial.
Match Number One: Jack Swagger versus Ryback
They lock up and Swagger with knees to the midsection but Ryback with knees of his own. Ryback with a boot to the chest and then he slams Swagger’s head into the mat. Ryback slams Swagger face first into the mat but Swagger avoids Ryback and gives him a drop toe hold. Swagger with a shoulder tackle and slam to Ryback and then he does the double jump Swagger Bomb but Ryback gets his feet up and Swagger tries for the ankle lock but Swagger is kicked off.
Ryback sends Swagger into the corner and then Ryback with a back body drop followed by shots to the head. Ryback does the Chong Li ‘Feed Me More’ arm movement and then he hits a clothesline followed by the marching muscle buster for the three count.
Winner: Ryback
After the match, Jack Swagger says that is it.
Jerry Lawler says that he is still thinking about CM Punk’s challenge as we go to commercial
We are back and we see footage from the However You Get Thrown Out of the Ring Battle Royal last week that was won by Kaitlyn.
Vickie Guerrero interrupts things before our next match. Vickie says that she has an important announcement to make.
Match Number Two: Natalya versus Layla El in a Non Title Match
Natalya with a take down into a front face lock but Layla with a hammer lock. Natalya sends Layla to the mat and she kicks Layla and sits on Layla for a near fall. Layla with an arm drag into a rollup for a near fall. Layla goes for a double jump cross body for a near fall. Natalya gets to the ropes and Layla grabs the legs and pulls Natalya to the mat. Layla apparently dances for no reason but we see Vickie on the apron instead.
Layla goes for a baseball slide but Natalya pulls the ring skirt and Layla goes to the floor. Natalya returns Layla to the ring and connects with a forearm to the back of the head. Natalya tries for the Sharpshooter but Layla kicks Natalya to the apron.
Natalya kicks Layla in the midsection and Layla counters a suplex with an inside cradle for a near fall. Layla with a round kick to the head for the three count.
Winner: Layla El
After the match, Vickie enters the ring to make her big announcement. She tells Layla to get out of the ring. Vickie throws out a few more excuse mes before saying what she is going to say.
Last week, the Raw General Manager agreed to make a match between Chris Jericho and Dolph Ziggler. Vickie reminds us about the stipulation for the match last week with Chris Jericho’s contract and Dolph Ziggler’s Money in the Bank contract on the line. Vickie says that was an abuse of power and wrong. Vickie says that she is the only person to stand up to the Raw General Manager. She is begging that it is time to put Raw back in the hands of an adult like her. Not some mentally deranged child.
AJ’s music plays and she skips to the ring. AJ slaps Vickie and we have a catfight.
Vickie runs to the back and AJ recomposes herself.
Michael Cole says that we will be seeing some of Triple H’s most momentous moments.
We start off with a Degeneration X video package.

We are back and it is time to remember that Daniel Bryan is going to an Anger Management Class even though Kane is beating everyone up.
Daniel goes to his class last week. Daniel says that he does not have an anger management issue and he says that he is not a loser like everyone else. There is one more person in the class and it is a kid wearing a goat mask. Daniel freaks out and he wants to know who did this. He says that he doesn’t have a goat face. He says that he is handsome. Bryan tells the brat to take the goat mask off. The doctor introduces his son to Bryan and he says that he is playing a goat in his school play.
Michael Cole reads one of CM Punk’s tweets and it mentions that Punk will give Lawler the first shot.
Lawler still thinks about whether or not he will accept the challenge.
Jerry gets up on the announce table and he has a mic. Jerry says that CM Punk came out and said that he beat up a bunch of nobodies in Memphis. Those nobodies include Jesse Ventura, Harley Race, Jack Brisco, Billy Graham, Bill Dundee, and more. He doesn’t know how long Punk would have lasted in Memphis. He also said that he acts like a fun loving fourteen year old. He also said that Jerry has never been WWE Champion. He also said that Lawler beat up a comedian. Jerry says that he has a lot of respect for Andy Kaufman. Jerry says that you don’t get into the WWE Hall of Fame unless you stand up when someone challenges you. Jerry says that he knows that he is not the best in the world, but he does not think that Punk is the best either. Jerry says that he has never backed down from a challenge, and he will not start backing down right now.
Jerry accepts the challenge and he goes to the back to get ready for his match.

Match Number Three: John Cena versus Miz in a Non Title Match
They lock up and Miz with a side head lock and take down. Cena gets to his feet and Cena with a side head lock take down of his own. Miz has a hip toss blocked and Cena with a side head lock take down.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Josh Mathews has joined Michael Cole at the announce table.
Miz goes to the floor after Cena tries for an Attitude Adjustment. Cena with punches to Miz followed by an Irish whip and bulldog for a near fall. Miz with kicks to Cena’s head and he gets a near fall. Miz hits the Awesome Clothesline. Miz goes up top and hits a double sledge for a near fall.
Miz with a reverse chin lock. Cena is able to get out of the hold. Miz tries for a suplex and Cena blocks it and hits a suplex of his own. Miz with the Reality Check for a near fall. Miz gets a near fall on Cena. Miz with a kick to Cena for another near fall. Cena with an STF and Miz tries to get to the ropes and he is able to get Cena to break the hold.
Miz with a kick and DDT to Cena for a near fall. Miz sets for the Skull Crushing Finale but Cena is able to get Miz up. Miz with a uranage for a near fall. Miz sets for the Awesome Clothesline but Cena moves. Cena with two flying shoulder tackles followed by a Blue Thunder Bomb and the Five Knuckle Shuffle.
Cena gets Miz up for the Attitude Adjustment and the three count.
Winner: John Cena
Michael Cole tells us that we will get to choose the stipulation for the CM Punk/Jerry Lawler match. The choices are a Tables Match, Steel Cage Match, or No Disqualification Match.
It is time for another momentous moment package for Triple H.
We are back and it is time for another Anger Management Class video. What will they make fun of Bryan for this time. We are back and Harold is complaining about how his boss takes credit for everything he does. Daniel is asked about Harold’s comments. Bryan talks about his boss and how she left him at the altar. Daniel doesn’t know how it can get worse but we see that the final patient is Kane. Isn’t it convenient that Kane’s seat is next to Daniel.
We see Heath Slater’s tout about his victory over Sin Cara.
Match Number Four: Heath Slater versus Santino Marella
Santino kicks at air and Slater wants to know what he is doing. Santino with a double leg take down and then he floats over and mocks Slater. Slater shows him the way to play air guitar. Slater with a punch and then he kicks Santino. Slater gets a near fall. Slater with knees to the back followed by an elbow and punches.
Slater chokes Santino in the ropes. Slater gets a near fall. He goes to the turnbuckles but Santino rolls away. Slater goes up on the other corner and Santino rolls to the other side of the ring. Santino with a rollup for a near fall. Santino with punches followed by the split and hip toss followed by the diving head butt.
It is time for the Cobra but Aksana’s music plays and she makes her way onto the stage. The Cobra is confused but the Cobra still takes care of Slater and Santino gets the three count.
Winner: Santino Marella
We are back and it is time to talk about the new WWE app for your smartphone.
Before our next match, Damien Sandow addresses the masses. He says as our intellectual savior and martyr. He has experienced a miracle. He has found someone he can have an intelligent conversation with. His tag team partner, Cody Rhodes.
Cody says that this match is very apropos. Since Brodus has the girth of most of the people in Milwaukee. Sin Cara shares their hideous looks. At least Sin Cara is considerate enough to wear a mask . . . for now.
Match Number Five: Sin Cara and Brodus Clay (with the Funkettes) versus Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes
The match is joined in progress and Cody with a chin lock on Cara. We see footage from the commercial break when Cody avoided the arm drag using the ropes. Rhodes with a kick and he gets a near fall. Sandow tags in and hits the Side Russian Leg Sweep and he floats over into the Elbow of Disdain for a near fall. Sandow with a forearm and boot to Cara.
Cody tags back in and he kicks Cara. Cody with a punch. Cara with a rana and he tags in Clay. Clay with a clothesline and Irish whip followed by a splash into the corner and a running power slam for a near fall. Sandow kicks Clay and the referee warns him. Sandow charges at Cara and Sandow goes to the floor. Cara with a cross body onto Sandow.
Clay with a head butt to counter the Beautiful Disaster and then Clay with a splash for the three count.
Winners: Sin Cara and Brodus Clay
We go to our third Anger Management video clip and the doctor asks Kane if he wants to remove his mask and he does it. He tells everyone that he is the Devil’s Favorite Demon. Kane is asked what makes him angry. Kane talks about being locked up in a basement and suffering emotional scars because his brother killed their parents. He talks about burying his brother alive twice. He mentions some of his other things he did and mentions a former girlfriend named Katie. He mentions his issues with Pete Rose.
Daniel complains about the anger collage that he is asked to make.
Harold thanks Kane for sharing and then he wants a hug but Kane grabs him by the throat and walks away.
Daniel Bryan is walking in the back and we go to commercial.
We are back and it is time for More Momentous Moments from the man known as Triple H.
Match Number Six: R Truth (with Kofi Kingston and Little Jimmy) versus Daniel Bryan
They fist bump so this is a match of Honorish. Truth with a hammer lock but Bryan with a reversal and side head lock take down. Bryan takes a deep breath and Bryan is better dealed by Little Jimmy, who is in the ring. Bryan kicks Truth and head butts him. Bryan with kicks in the corner. Bryan with an Irish whip but he runs into a boot and Truth with a kick and clothesline.
Truth with a leg lariat and punches to Bryan. Truth with the Lie Detector but Bryan kicks out. Truth with a punch. Truth sends Bryan over the top rope and to the floor. Truth follows and he punches Bryan. Truth gets on the mic and he talks to Little Jimmy and Truth remembers that they are in Milwaukee. Truth yeses and that angers Bryan.
Bryan takes the mic and he nos. Bryan gets counted out.
Winner: R Truth by count out
After the match, Bryan attacks the ring steps.

We are back and Triple H makes his way to ring. Michael Cole and Josh Mathews stand at attention at the announce table while Hunter walks around the ring.
Hunter takes a few moments to compose himself and wait for the crowd to chant his name.
He wants to cut to the chase. Will he retire? Hunter says that you never say never. He wants to go back to the beginning. When he started his career, he had two goals he wanted to accomplish. He wanted to do something that the people wouldn’t forget and he wanted to retire from all of this before this retired him.
Hunter says that everyone comes to a crossroad in their career. When you get to that crossroad, is it time? Time is the one thing that you cannot fight. Time will always win. He says that he never wanted to be the guy who just hanged out. He didn’t want to be the guy who hung on too long. The guy who was waiting for the nostalgia pop. He didn’t want to be the guy who is in the ring because people were willing to write the check. He didn’t want to be the guy who was too beat up inside to hold his kids.
He didn’t want to be the punch drunk fighter who didn’t have a life when it was over. Hunter says that he finds himself at that crossroad. Hunter says that Brock made him ask himself the question of whether he is done. Hunter says that he does not know. He is beat up and broken.
Hunter says that he wants to come out into this ring and be the Cerebral Assassin, the King of Kings, the Game, he wants to be Triple H. He wants to be able to come into the ring and say that he is going to kick Brock Lesnar’s ass because that is what he does.
He wants to do it, but he cannot. He does not know if he can. Brock Lesnar has forced him to look inside himself and wonder if he is done. Hunter says that if he cannot say that he can come back and beat Brock Lesnar or say that he can come back better than he was before, then maybe he has already answered his question.
Hunter says maybe he can do it, but while he is out here now, he can take a minute to say something. He can say thank you to everyone. Whether you love them, hate them, or whatever, every superstar who comes down the ramp and comes through the ropes does it for one reason. They put their bodies and their health on the line. They pay the price and sacrifice for the people’s entertainment.
Hunter says that for his entire career, that when he walks through the curtain, the people have cared. That has gotten him through everything. What got him through everything was the people and their reactions. Hunter thanks everyone from the bottom of his heart.
Hunter thanks everyone for letting him play the game. He says that he hopes he has done something in the ring that the people will never forget him.

We are back with the Slam of the Week: Dolph Ziggler winning and Chris Jericho having his contract terminated.
Chris Jericho’s music plays as the lights go down but it is Dolph Ziggler toying with the emotions of the people of Milwaukee. He says that Y2J will not be seen now because of him. He cost Jericho his WWE Contract. Now the people will never ever see Chris Jericho again.
Match Number Seven: Alberto Del Rio (with Ricardo Rodriguez) and Dolph Ziggler versus Sheamus and Randy Orton
Ziggler and Orton start things off and they lock up. Orton with a shoulder tackle but Orton with a clothesline. Orton with a slingshot suplex on Ziggler and then he sends Del Rio to the floor. Sheamus with a running shoulder tackle off the apron. Orton with a power slam and then he looks around and Ziggler goes to the floor. Sheamus joins Orton in the ring as we go to commercial.
We are back and Del Rio slams Orton’s head into the ring steps and then he returns Orton to the ring. Ziggler tags back in and Del Rio and Ziggler kick Orton. Ziggler with a leaping elbow drop for a near fall. Ziggler with a kick to Orton followed by a reverse chin lock. Orton with elbows and a head butt but Ziggler with a knee to the midsection for a near fall. Del Rio tags back in and he kicks Orton and gets a near fall.
Del Rio works on Orton’s arm with punches to the upper arm. Del Rio with a chin lock and arm bar but Orton gets free and he punches Del Rio. Del Rio with a knee and an Irish whip into the corner. Orton floats over and gets a near fall with a rollup. Orton sends Del Rio over the top rope to the floor and Ricardo checks on him.
Sheamus and Ziggler tag in and Sheamus with running double sledges followed by a shoulder in the corner and running knee lift. Sheamus takes care of Del Rio on the apron. Ziggler with a kick to Sheamus and then he knocks Orton off the apron. Ziggler with a sunset flip but Sheamus rolls through. Sheamus with a uranage back breaker and Del Rio breaks up the cover.
Ricardo gives Ziggler the briefcase but Orton stops Ziggler. Orton with a back breaker and Sheamus with a Brogue Kick for the three count.
Winners: Sheamus and Randy Orton
Jerry Lawler is in the back and he says that he appreciates him being there for him. He needs to face CM Punk on his own. We see that Lawler is talking to John Cena. If Cena interferes, Punk will say that he could only beat Punk with Cena’s help. Lawler says that he is doing this for himself. Cena wishes Lawler luck.

We are back with the WWE Rewind: Kane’s attack on Josh Mathews at SummerSlam.
We are back and Kane makes his way to the announce table and Josh Mathews leaves the ringside area and goes to the production table.
Match Number Eight: Zack Ryder versus David Otunga
Otunga with a kick and forearm to the back. Otunga sends Ryder into the turnbuckles. Otunga with punches but Ryder punches back. Otunga with a back elbow and then he sends Ryder into the turnbuckles. Otunga with an Irish whip and clothesline in the corner followed by a flying shoulder tackle for a near fall.
Otunga with a rear chin lock and a suplex for a near fall. Otunga with a European uppercut and he returns to the rear chin lock. Ryder with punches but Otunga with a forearm to the back. Ryder with a face plant and discus clothesline. Otunga with an Irish whip but Ryder with an elbow. Otunga pulls Ryder off the turnbuckles.
Otunga misses a short arm clothesline and Ryder with the Rough Ryder for the three count.
Winner: Zack Ryder
After the match, Kane grabs Ryder by the throat in the ring and he thinks about what he learned in the Anger Management Class. He lets Ryder go and Kane takes out his anger on David Otunga and choke slams him.
We are back and it is time to see what stipulation will govern the match between Jerry Lawler and CM Punk. The winner, with 48 percent of the vote is the Steel Cage Match. The no disqualification match got 32 percent to finish in second, and the Tables Match had 20 percent.
Instead of the Cage Lowering Music, we get the General Manager skipping music. AJ says that regardless of the result of the Jerry Lawler/CM Punk match, CM Punk will defend the WWE Title at Night of Champions against her choice . . . John Cena.
Now it is time for the Official Cage Lowering Music of the WWE.
We go to commercial with Jerry Lawler walking in the back.
Match Number Nine: CM Punk versus Jerry Lawler in a Steel Cage Match
Punk gives Lawler the first shot because he is a man of his Tweet. Lawler with a shot to the jaw and he staggers Punk. Punk with a kick to the legs and then he connects with forearms and knees in the corner. Punk with a neck breaker and forearms across the chest. Punk pulls Lawler to the mat. Punk with kicks to the head showing no respect to Lawler.
Punk with a reverse chin lock and more forearms across the chest. Punk pulls Lawler to the mat by the hair. Punk goes up top and then it looks like he is going to climb over the cage. Instead he sets for the elbow drop but Lawler goes across the ring. Punk with a snap mare and drop kick to Lawler.
Punk goes up top and Lawler crotches Punk. Lawler asks for the cage to be opened but Punk pulls him back into the ring. Punk with elbow drops to Lawler. Lawler avoids a neck breaker and he sends Punk into the cage. Both men are down in the cage.
Lawler punches Punk and then he sends Punk into the cage. Lawler with a clothesline and then he punches Punk. Lawler goes to the turnbuckles for the fist drop and the strap is down. Lawler with the fist drop to Punk. Lawler goes for the cage door again but Punk stops him.
Punk with an Irish whip and knee into the corner. Punk is bleeding from the forehead and he signals that it is time for someone to go to sleep. Punk with a Rock Bottom into the Anaconda Vice and Lawler taps out.
Winner: CM Punk
After the match, Punk looks under the ring and he gets a tool box. Punk gets a chain and lock and he locks himself into the cage with Lawler.
Punk has the mic and he says that Lawler has one arm but his mouth works just fine. He wants Lawler to tell him that he is the best in the world.
Lawler tells Punk ‘Hell No’.
Punk with elbows to Lawler. Punk says that he is the best wrestler in the world and he wants Lawler to say it. Punk punches Lawler and Lawler appears to be unconscious.
John Cena comes to the ring, but he did not learn from Mark Henry and he cannot get the door opened. Cena wants the cage lifted while Punk smothers Lawler.
The cage is finally lifted up and Cena gets into the ring and Punk leaves.
