*SPOILERS* SmackDown Taping Results For This Friday, 8/31
SmackDown (Airing August 31st on SyFy):
* The show opens with World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus coming out to the ring. Sheamus starts to talk about Triple H’s “retirement” from RAW on Monday when Damien Sandow interrupts. Sandow belittles Sheamus and leaves.
* SmackDown General Manager Booker T comes out on the stage and announces that since Sandow wants to talk smack about Sheamus, he would get the chance to back it up later when he faces him in a match.
* Rey Mysterio b. Cody Rhodes with the 619 when Cody got distracted by trying to take off Rey’s mask. After the match, Rhodes attacked Mysterio and continued the assault until Sin Cara ran out. Cody tried removing Cara’s mask, which led to him taking a 619 from Rey. Cara then placed one of his masks on Cody before leaving.
* Eve Torres, the assistant to the SmackDown General Manager, came out and joined the announce booth for the next match.
* Kaitlyn b. Natalya with a roll-up. After the match, it is confirmed that Kaitlyn will receive her Divas Title match against Layla at Night of Champions.
* Backstage, SmackDown General Manager Booker T, his Senior Adviser Theodore Long and Matt Striker were discussing AJ’s performance as the RAW General Manager when Vickie Guerrero interrupted. Vickie said that if the board of directors doesn’t take action against AJ, then she will.
* World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus b. Damien Sandow via count out in a non-title match.
* Prime Time Players b. Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd when O’Neil and Young hit their combo finisher on Gabriel.
* Josh Mathews enters the ring and welcomes his special guest Alberto Del Rio. Del Rio discussed numerous topics, including his World Title shot at Night of Champions. Mathews talked about Del Rio’s recent troubles, which got Alberto peeved. Del Rio went to attack Mathews when Kane’s pyro hit.
* Mathews ran immediately and when he entered the ring, Kane said that his therapist wants him to apologize to Josh for what happened at SummerSlam. Senior Adviser to the SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long came out and on behalf of Booker T, he booked a match between Del Rio and Kane for right now.
* Alberto Del Rio b. Kane following interference from Ricardo Rodriguez. After the match, Kane attacked Josh Mathews and laid him out again due to anger for losing.
* Randy Orton b. Dolph Ziggler w/Vickie Guerrero after hitting the RKO. After the match, Orton posed in the ring to close the show.
