*SPOILERS* SmackDown Taping Results For This Friday, 9/14
SmackDown (Airing September 14th on SyFy):
* The show opens with Alberto Del Rio, David Otunga and Ricardo Rodriguez coming to the ring. Both Otunga and Rodriguez are wearing neckbraces. Del Rio complains about the disposition he is in due to concern that World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus is going to injure him with a Brogue Kick, which Del Rio adds is still banned.
* Del Rio mentions that he brought a surprise with him tonight, a special guest who will appear live via satellite right now. Del Rio pointed to the titantron and Christian made an appearance. Christian said that he hasn’t been the same since he received a Brogue Kick from Sheamus several months ago, which is why he is “taking a break” right now.
* Daniel Bryan comes out on the stage to interrupt Christian’s satellite visit. Bryan starts yelling NO loudly, then heads to the ring to join in on the in-ring complaining. Bryan talks about Sheamus always calling him a goat face and says he can’t take it anymore.
* World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus comes out to the ring and pokes fun at everyone else, while Del Rio tries to be friendly so he doesn’t get Brogue Kick’d prior to their match for the title at Night of Champions. Sheamus doesn’t buy it. Bryan, Del Rio and Rodriguez leave the ring and Otunga to fend for himself. Sheamus lays him out.
* Sin Cara b. WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz with a Senton Bomb in a non-title match.
* Backstage, Cody Rhodes made fun of The Miz for losing to Sin Cara, which started an argument. Cara and Rey Mysterio then appeared and more arguing ensued. Senior Adviser to the SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long walked up and announced that Miz will defend the title against Cara, Mysterio and Rhodes in a Fatal 4 Way at Night of Champions.
* A recap of the anger management progress of Daniel Bryan and Kane is shown, followed by a previously recorded skit involving Bryan, Kane and Dr. Shelby. The doc made Bryan and Kane squeeze rubber balls that were to relieve stress.
* Kane b. Kofi Kingston with a chokeslam. After the match, per orders of Dr. Shelby who made an appearance on the stage, Kane apologized to Kofi and then they two hugged.
* Backstage, Matt Striker interviews Randy Orton about his match against Dolph Ziggler at Night of Champions. Orton reveals that his match against Dolph will go on directly after the World Heavyweight Title match, meaning if Dolph cashes in Sunday, he will have to defend the title against Orton.
* It is announced that the main event will see Daniel Bryan take on World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus in a non-title rematch from WrestleMania 28. The crowd chanted “18 seconds” upon this news.
* Randy Orton b. Tensai w/Sakamoto with an RKO. After the match, Vickie Guerrero came out and attempted to distract Orton which would allow Dolph Ziggler to attack Orton from behind, but Orton saw it coming a mile away. Orton went for an RKO, but Dolph bailed.
Off-Air?: WWE United States Champion Antonio Cesaro came out and talked about Night of Champions. Cesaro said no matter who wins the pre-show battle royal, he will be victorious, which led to him saying victorious in 5 different languages. Brodus Clay came out and suggested otherwise (setting up them facing off?) who ran him off and then danced with members of the audience.
* WWE Divas Champion Layla came out and joined the announce booth for the next match.
* Kaitlyn b. Beth Phoenix with a roll-up.
* Wade Barrett came out and said people were too stupid to understand what he meant when he said “Wade Barrett is open for business” after his victory against Yoshi Tatsu last week. He says next week he is willing to take a fight challenge from anyone.
* Backstage, Eve Torres tells Booker T that he did the right thing by banning the Brogue Kick. Booker walks off with Eve, ignoring Theodore Long.
* World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus b. Daniel Bryan with the Cloverleaf in a non-title match to close the show.
